One staff and four students went to the employment centre and did some demonstrations in acupuncture and fire cupping while providing staff with some mini treatments in acupressure massage. Staff at the employment centre found it very informative and have invited us to come back at a future date to do Wellness Wednesday at other locations.
Mi'kmaq Childhood Development Centre
The Mi'kmaq Childhood Development Centre had CCATCM attend their Parent Night on Feb. 6, 2019. Two staff members and six students were on hand providing mini treatments in acupuncture, acupressure massage and fire cupping. The parent night is an event that starts with a drumming circle, while MCDC provides dinner and childcare for children, one night during the month. The parents have an opportunity to get together, have dinner and socialize with one another downstairs. Our students were able to provide treatments to 20 people and MCDC staff.
Sipekne’katik First Nation: PCC Career Fair
The Sipekne’katik First Nation: PCC Career Fair on February 6th was brilliant. Joseph Gower came up to represent CCATCM and he also provided some mini treatments of acupressure massage for community members.Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and there were lots of opportunities for chatting. Also, it was very interesting to hear conversations about some connections between their many healing practices and TCM practices. Thank you also to Desiree Grantmyre and the team from the Mi'kmaq Employment Training Secretariat for arranging a hearty Subway lunch for all of us. Hoping we can visit again soon.
